Name of Artifact: Health Lesson Plan
Date: March 17, 2015
Class: EDUC 240
Description: This is a lesson plan for fifth graders about activities related to a tobacco free lifestyle. It states the equipment needed, the student objectives, the activities planned, assessments, how the certain activities can be a success for everyone, and some safety concerns. This assignment is to help students have an idea of tobacco.
Rationale: To document my understanding of InTASC Standard 5, Application of Content, I have selected to include a lesson plan and unit of study on tobacco and its effects because learning about tobacco at an earlier age may help prevent the use of it. I will apply this standard by relating tobacco use to authentic local and global issues; also using creativity to make the lesson more interesting to the students.
Name of Artifact: Ruth Lilly Reflection
Date: April 2, 2015
Class: EDUC 240
Description: This is a reflection on the Ruth Lilly field experience I went on at Marian University. It begins with an introduction on what Ruth Lilly is and what their program does then discusses my thoughts and reflections about the program and finishes with a conclusion of the experience. A highlight of this experience was seeing how important Ruth Lilly is to students.
Rationale: To document my understanding of InTASC Standard #5, Application of Content, I have selected to include how the Ruth Lilly program engages learners in global and local health issues in a creative way to keep the students interested. Ruth Lilly Health Education Programs all involve creativity to the learners and collaborative problem solving in order to be aware of health factors.
Name of Artifact: McIntosh Article Reflection
Date: September 2015
Class: EDUC 255: Multicultural Education
Description: For this assignment I used various resources to demonstrate my understanding of what White privilege is and what it can do in a society and to people. I summarized the content from each of the four resources: my textbook, an article, a YouTube video and a TED Talk. I also reflected on my personal thoughts of the content to show how I felt and what I understood of what was represented to me.
Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard #5, Application of Content, I demonstrate my understanding of the local and global issues of White privilege. Students need to be taught what is out there relating to any types of privileges there may be. I applied what I knew and what I know now to this global phenomenon.
