Class: EDUC 255: Multicultural Education
Description: For this assignment, I created a thematic unit for a first grade class based on the children’s book “Knuffle Bunny”. I came up with a variety of lessons to do for each subject: Language Arts/Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, and Music. Each activity also has a corresponding Indiana Academic Standard to provide what these first grade students should be learning.
Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard #7, Planning for Instruction, I selected to include my thematic unit plan. My thematic unit plan demonstrates my ability in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas. I have described how to include every subject area into “Knuffle Bunny” based upon the theme of family.
