Description: For this assignment, I explain to future parents and families of my students what is important to know about kids with exceptional needs. I describe many of the important steps taken to ensure the proper route for their children is taken and also some of the laws that are in place to help protect their children.

 

 

Rationale:To document my understanding of Standard #2, Learning Differences, I point out how I will use the individual differences of students with exceptional needs and those without  to ensure that each of them will meet high standards within learning potentials. I describe to parents how the community is there to help them and their children, and to make sure they are on the right path to success.

Class: EDUC 255: Multicultural Education

 

 

Description: For this assignment, I found three multicultural children’s picture books. I included the authors, publishers, date of the release, and a summary of the book. I went even further as to include a unit theme it would fall under and an activity to do with the class regarding the book.

 

 

Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard #2, Learning Differences, I used three multicultural children’s books and made it useful to use them in a classroom. They include individual differences and diverse cultures to ensure the students to meet high standards based on the differences among the books.

 

 

Name of Aritfact: Children's Book Critique

 

Date: October 2015

 

Class: EDUC 255: Multicultural Education

 

 

Description: For this assignment, I found three fictional multicultural children’s picture books and I critiqued them. I critiqued them based on the positive and negative factors of each book. I identified if there were differences between having male or female characters and the activities each gender was associated with doing. Lastly, I identified what the message was in each book and how that specifically relates to males and females.

 

 

Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard #2, Learning Differences, I took three multicultural children’s books and picked them apart. The three books I chose have differing cultures than mine and can ensure learning in a new way for students. Each student will be objectified to a new culture and way of reading in these books.

 

 

Name of Aritfact: Cultural Autobiography

 

Date: October 2015

 

Class: EDUC 255: Multicultural Education

 

 

Description: For this assignment I described my cultural background. I have included where my parents and grandparents were born and what languages they may have spoke. I have also included how my grandparents influenced as to where I grew up. I included how my parents grew up, what life was like for them, and how they came to meet one another. Lastly, I include the traditions, values and beliefs that my family shares.

 

 

Rationale: To document my understanding of Standard #2, Learning Differences, I have selected to include my Cultural Autobiography. In this assignment I understand the individual differences and diverse cultures and communities that my future might have because I showed an understanding of how I differ from some people. Just like me, my students will have things that make them different from their peers and it will make for an inclusive learning environment where each learner can meet high standards. `
